Praise My Soul the King of Heaven [SATB and Organ]

About this Piece: Perhaps the most common tune to accompany this text by Henry F. Lyte is LAUDA ANIMA by John Goss which often sung at the English Coronation ceremony. In this setting I tried to keep to the "English" sound but give it fresh take to interpret the majestic text. This composition features mixed meter, SATB divisi, and a beautiful contrasting "Alleluia" section. The organ accompaniment is also full of color and majesty.

Premiere Performance: March 12, 2016. Sam Fleming Senior Composition Recital. Barrus Concert Hall, BYU-Idaho, Rexburg, Idaho. Sam Fleming, conductor; Molly Patrick Buttars, organ.
